We had found our dream home and we really were moving!

It sounded so simple, but there were many things to keep track of that I spent the first week making and refining lists. I made a list of utilities to be changed, including a change of address and the name and address of the new school. Also included was a note to notify the vehicle division to change our registration address.

I made a list of things to take with us in the car in case all of our goods didn't make it to their destination or in case we were too tired to unpack them. This included pajamas, towels, washcloths and personal grooming aids as well as the coffeepot and toaster. Everything we would need for the first few hours was on the list.

I made a list of things to unpack first after we'd survived the first night and morning. This included clothing and kitchen pots and pans, dishes and food.

On the next and last list were the things we could deal with as we came to them. Books, the TV, games and DVDs, my yarn stash, my husband's tools, our son's baseball equipment and anything else we didn't need right away.

Some of these things I packed first and labelled the boxes clearly as to which room the went in.

The day before the move, I packed the rest of the boxes, and by next day, the utilities had been changed over and a change of address was in the mail to the post office. I packed our overnight things and the kitchen necessities and we loaded the car.

The moving van pulled up and while my husband stayed to make sure the calgary movers got everything, I and the kids went ahead to wait for the moving van.

A few minutes of direction had everything in the right room and we were moved! Time to call our for pizza!
